FAQ

Where were you born and when?

Charlottesville Virginia, July 24th 1964.

Why do you photograph mainly modernism?

I very much believe good design can change lives for the good. Modernism in Western and Central Europe, with the exception of France, was born out of a time when architects and designers were actively seeking to change the world through good design. Some of the lessons that should have been built upon have been lost over time. Through my work I try and bring these ideas back into the conversation.

Do you use Photoshop on your images?

Yes absolutely, I find it an essential tool for realizing my vision.

Why are your photographs black, white and blue?

In the good old days, when I used to use film, Polaroid made an instant 35mm film called Polapan. Since they stopped making it I use a program called Exposure made by Alien Skin to replicate the color and the grain of the original.

Do you also work in color?

Yes, but not very often, it really depends on the project.
